General Registration Policy
All programs have a minimum and maximum enrollment and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis with Bloomington residents having the opportunity to register at least one week prior to non-residents. Payments may be made by personal check, money order, cash or credit card (VISA, MasterCard or Discover). Please send a separate check for each program registration. This eases refunds should one of your classes be filled.
Random Processing of Mail-In and Faxed Forms
The Bloomington Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department attempts to accommodate all participants in programs. To help insure an equal chance of enrollment in a class, registration is randomly processed. All registration forms received by mail or fax before the date set for the first day of resident registration are placed in a box and selected and processed at random beginning on that date. After this process, registration forms will be processed on a daily basis. Internet registration begins at 5:00 am on the first day of registration. Non-resident registration usually begins one week after resident registration.
The Bloomington Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department provides recreation opportunities for all residents and encourages participation by everyone. Programs and services are subject to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as well as applicable laws regarding nondiscrimination. We are happy to make reasonable modifications to assist anyone with special needs who wants to participate in a program. Call the Department in advance of a program to discuss any necessary accommodation or if you need Department materials in a special format, such as Braille, large print or audio cassette.
Refund/Credit on Account Policy For Recreation Programs:
- Refunds or credit on account will be given for requests received five full business days prior to the start of any program or activity; however, a service charge of $5 will be levied unless the refund is due to the cancellation of a class by the Recreation Department.
- No refunds or credit on account for programs costing $5 or less
- No refund or credit on account will be granted after the start of a program except in the case of illness. Written documentation from a physician must be provided. A $5 service charge will be applied.
- Refunds or credit on account for trips will be issued only if the seat can be resold or if the trip is canceled by the Recreation Department.
Refund of registration by credit card will be processed back to the credit card account.
Unless otherwise noted, the registration deadline for all programs is one week prior to the start of the first class session. Registrations are still accepted after this deadline, however, the class may be canceled due to low enrollment. Please register early! Fee Assistance
Bloomington Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts provides a fee assistance program to reduce certain fees and charges for those who are unable to pay these fees. The policy and form are available at the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts office and at the Lincoln Leisure Center. You may also download them here.
